How Does It Work?
The working ingredient in Kybella® is deoxycholic acid, a molecule that is naturally occurring in the body. It assists with the breakdown of fats in the diet. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.
Before the Kybella® is injected, a numbing cream and pain reliever are applied to the area to help minimize any pain and discomfort. Then, the Kybella® injections are done at different points around the chin. The number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and on your desired profile.
You will notice a burning sensation right after the injections that will last several minutes. You will also notice some swelling that will last at least several days. Everyone is different. In large part, the amount of downtime depends entirely on the patient.
When Will I See Results?
After the swelling subsides, you will start to notice the results of your Kybella® treatment. The results are noticeable within a month.
You will have to follow up with additional treatments to get the results you are looking for. Some patients will get three or four treatments. You may need up to six treatments to experience maximum results. Treatments must be at least one month apart. With each treatment, your results will improve. With maximum results, ultimately you may experience the complete disappearance of your double chin.
