Benefits of Liposuction

Lipo permanently removes unresponsive deposits of fat throughout the body. Sometimes, diet and exercise just aren’t enough to achieve the shape you desire – liposuction provides the fine tuning you may need to gain the physique you desire.

Who Is The Ideal Candidate for Liposuction?

You are a good candidate for lipo if you are physically healthy, active on a regular basis, and committed to future weight management. If you have localized fat deposits on the face, neck, arms, abdomen, hips, or legs, you may want to consider liposuction.

What Do I Need To Do Before Liposuction?

Before your procedure, you’ll meet with Dr. Martin for your initial consultation. Dr. Martin will examine the problem areas you wish to target with lipo, and listen to the goals you have for the procedure. He will let you know if he feels liposuction is the appropriate method of treatment, or make other suggestions.

How Long Does It Take to Perform Liposuction?

Depending on the extent of fat to be removed, liposuction takes between 30 minutes and several hours. It is performed on an outpatient basis under intravenous (IV) anesthesia.

This procedure involves making a small incision, and inserting a cannula (hollow tube) into the unwanted fat deposits. A vacuum-pressure unit then suctions off the fat.

What To Expect After Liposuction

Recovery occurs gradually after liposcution. You can return to work in three to five days, wearing a snug elastic garment to help the skin re-drape the underlying muscle. You may be required to wear compression garments for up to three weeks.

Liposuction FAQs

Will I Have Scars After Liposuction?

Liposuction will result in minimal scars, as incisions are made to insert the cannula used to remove fat cells. Dr. Martin uses techniques to minimize and conceal scarring to the best of his ability.

When Will I See The Results?

Lipo does result in some swelling. It can take up to six months for all swelling to subside. Once swelling has resolved, you’ll be able to see the well-defined physique the procedure has created.

How Long Will The Results of Liposuction Last?

Liposuction produces permanent results. Results can be maintained by keeping weight steady and avoiding weight gain. If you do gain weight, you may notice an increase in fat deposit size, but they likely will not reach their former size.
