If you feel young, you deserve a look to match it
As the years go by, the skin begins to loosen on the face and neck. The jaw line softens into jowls, a double chin forms, and vertical folds appear at the front of the neck. Not everyone ages at the same rate. There is no magical age to make the decision to have a facelift. The appropriate time to have a consultation is when you no longer like what the mirror tells you. This may be in your 30′s or your 80′s.
As with all cosmetic surgery, good health and realistic expectations are prerequisites. If you have been considering a facelift to reverse the signs of aging, you should understand what a facelift can and can’t do.
A facelift provides an overall lift to the lower third of your face by tightening loose skin in the jowls, neck, and jaw line. A facelift alone will not remove forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, or bags under your eyes. These areas can, however, be treated at the same time as your facelift.
During your consultation, Dr. Martin will discuss your particular condition, your expectations and the probable outcome of your various treatment options.
Understand the procedure and what you’re getting into
A facelift is typically performed under intravenous anesthesia and should be done in an accredited surgical facility. Dr. Martin places the incisions for a facelift in the natural creases of your skin, beginning inside the hairline above and forward of the ear. The skin is lifted outward and the underlying muscles and tissues are tightened and repositioned. Excess skin and fat are then removed. The incision is then closed with fine sutures. A facelift can take between 2 and 4 hours, depending on the extent of the procedure.

Dr. Martin and his team made me feel very comfortable and relaxed on my first visit. I was 62 years old at the time of my surgery which included a face lift, Botox and Restylane. People who know me now tell me how great I look, but have no idea I had surgery. That's how natural Dr. Martin's work is!-Kris, Norwich
Dr. Martin is kind and professional, but most importantly he is a great surgeon. He is meticulous in his work and was honest and realistic about my expectations. I highly recommend him, and would certainly go back to him for any future procedures.-M.N, Niantic
Dr. Martin and his staff gave me excellent care. I had liposuction of ‘problem’ areas that I had never been able to sculpt on my own. The surgery made me feel much better about my appearance, and I would refer my friends and family to him.-Mary, New London
After having my second child and a c-section, I was left with a roll of loose skin and stretch marks. Dr. Martin reviewed with both me and my husband (who was more nervous than me) exactly what to expect from the tummy tuck and recovery. I found my recovery to be relatively easy, and the result fantastic.-L.C., Plainfield
