Rather than placing an individual implant for every missing tooth, several implants are strategically positioned throughout the jaw. These implants then support a full-arch prosthesis that replaces an entire row of teeth.

The term “All-on-X” refers to the concept of replacing an entire arch of teeth using X number of implants, rather than a specific fixed number. The number of implants recommended depends on your anatomy, bone quality, bite, health, and restorative needs.

Not every patient is an immediate candidate for All-on-X. A comprehensive examination and 3D imaging are necessary to determine whether implant treatment is appropriate.

Certain medical conditions, medications, smoking, inadequate bone volume, uncontrolled periodontal disease, or poor oral hygiene may affect candidacy and implant success.

Can I Get Teeth the Same Day?

Sometimes.

One of the major advantages of All-on-X treatment is that some appropriately selected patients may receive a temporary fixed prosthesis on the same day as implant placement.

This is sometimes referred to as immediate loading or same-day teeth.

However, immediate teeth are not appropriate for every patient.

Several factors must be considered, including:

· Implant stability at the time of surgery

· Bone quality and quantity

· Number and position of implants

· Bite forces

· Overall health

· Smoking

· Presence of infection

· Ability to follow a temporary soft-food diet

If immediate loading is not appropriate, implants may be allowed to heal before the permanent or provisional restoration is attached.

Same-day teeth do not mean that your final teeth are completed on the day of surgery. A temporary restoration may be used while your implants heal and your final prosthesis is being fabricated.
