Martin performs blepharoplasty procedures for patients in Norwich, Colchester, Mystic, Waterford, Glastonbury, and nearby Connecticut communities.

What is Blepharoplasty?

An immediate impression can be made with the eyes, and we all want to look fresh and healthy on a daily basis. Blepharoplasty may be performed on both the upper or lower lids and may reduce sagging or swelling around the eye area.

How Much Does Blepharoplasty in Norwich Cost?

During your initial consultation, you’ll be informed of all costs associated with your blepharoplasty surgery. Connecticut Surgical Arts accepts cash, check and credit card. We also offer various financing options for your convenience.

Benefits of Eyelid Surgery

Sagging eyelids may inhibit vision. The surgery removes excess tissue on the eyelids, correcting obstructions. The procedure can also repair a tired, puffy look that contributes to the appearance of aging.

Who Is The Ideal Candidate for Blepharoplasty?

Anyone in relatively good health with excess eylid skin or fat may benefit from a blepharoplasty. If you have sagging or drooping around your eyes or puffiness or dark circles, a blepharoplasty may be for you.

What Do I Need To Do Before Eyelid Surgery?

The surgeon will examine your eyes to see if you are a good candidate for eyelid surgery, and you will be given instructions that you must follow closely before surgery.

How Long Does It Take to Perform Blepharoplasty?

Eyelid surgery and forehead lifts are performed on an outpatient basis. The procedure takes about an hour for the upper eyelids, two for the lower eyelids and three hours for both.

What to Expect After Eyelid Surgery

The area around the surgery site will be swollen and sore. You will not be able to drive and may experience irritation or dryness of the eyes. Medication may be prescribed for these issues. Bruising may also occur. Avoid sun exposure until recovery is complete. You may be able to return to work about a week after your procedure.

Will I Have Scars After Blepharoplasty?

Scars will be minimal or nearly invisible as surgeries involving the upper eyelids will include incisions made in the skin’s natural folds, and surgeries involving the lower lids will be right at the lash line, making it nearly invisible once healed.

When Will I See The Results?

Full recovery may take a month or longer, but there will be results to see much sooner. Sagging, puffiness and excessive wrinkles will be gone, leaving a more youthful and alert appearance.

How Long Will the Results of Eyelid Surgery Last?

This procedure delivers long-lasting results, and you should retain your youthful appearance unless a significant amount of weight is gained, increasing puffiness.

Blepharoplasty FAQs

What age is good for blepharoplasty?

While there is no perfect age for blepharoplasty, we typically encourage patients to consider upper or lower eyelid surgery between the ages of 25 and 65 years old. At these ages, the skin is more likely to heal quickly and healthily with little-to-no complications. Most patients who come into our practice for blepharoplasty are between the ages of 40 and 60.

Are you awake during eyelid surgery?

Your blepharoplasty will most likely be performed under a local anesthetic, meaning you will be awake during your surgery. That being said, our patients report feeling completely comfortable and unable to feel the surgery being performed. If you are concerned about your blepharoplasty being performed under local anesthesia, we encourage you to come in for a private consultation with Dr. Martin to discuss these concerns.

Is an eyelid lift painful?

No, eyelid surgery is not painful. During your blepharoplasty, you will be put under a local anesthetic to ensure you remain as comfortable as possible throughout your treatment. Following your eyelid lift, Dr. Martin will likely prescribe you medication to help you manage your pain throughout your blepharoplasty recovery.

How long does it take to recover from blepharoplasty?

At Connecticut Surgical Arts, we typically see our patients recover from their blepharoplasty treatments within about six weeks. Within six weeks, all mild swelling, bruising, and tenderness around the eyes typically subside and patients are able to return to their normal daily activities including work and regular exercise.

Does blepharoplasty make you look younger?

Yes, blepharoplasty can make you look younger. By reducing the amount of drooping and wrinkling around the eyes, patients find they look more alert, awake, refreshed, and rejuvenated following their blepharoplasty.
